Julia Shields is the owner and director of Free Spirit Yoga & Pilates and is a registered Canadian Yoga Alliance 1000 hour gold Yoga Teacher and Yoga teacher trainer.
Allan is Julia’s best friend, husband & business partner. Allan is a recently retired Surrey Firefighter and practices Yoga, TRX & Aerial Yoga to help stay in shape and to keep a focused, clear mind.
I come from a classical dance background having started dancing at the age of 3 and eventually teaching for a few years after high school. Together with my mom we attended our first yoga class over 30 years ago.
My love of yoga started about 20 years ago. Life was hectic, 2 kids in sports as well as my husband & I, plus a busy career. So needless to say, not a lot of me time. A friend mentioned yoga to me and that was the start to my lifelong relationship.
My yoga practice began in my bedroom by watching yoga videos on YouTube, but I was loving how yoga was making me feel and wanted to expand my practice by trying something new.
Rebecca knew that she needed balance in her life as the demands of being a wife, entrepreneur and Mom came with day-to-day stressors. Yoga gave her a physical, mental, and spiritual connection all in one.
Coming from a fitness background, I love creating classes that are fun and well balanced and approachable for all levels, all bodies.
I fell in love with the beautiful calming aspect and inner focus of yoga 20 years ago. It soon motivated me to complete the RYT200 teacher training with Julia at Free Spirit and share the benefits with others.
