Free Spirit's intensive 200, 300 & 500 hour level Yoga teacher training programs are based upon the principles of Patanjali's Classical 8 limb Hatha Yoga. We explore a diverse range of Yoga styles including: Hatha, Flow, Infrared Hot Yoga, Yin, Gentle, Power Yoga, Pilates Yoga fusion, Restorative Yoga, Pranayama & Meditation. Our program is unique as we give you the flexibilty to train within your own schedule needs and work within a time frame ranging from 4 months to one year to complete your 200 hour level training.
Once your 200 hour level is achieved you can build towards your 300 and 500 hour levels by taking modules that we offer once a month.
Some example of the modules we offer are:
Yin Yoga, Pilates Mat 1, Pilates Mat 2, Restorative Yoga, Kids Yoga, Family Yoga, Partner Yoga, Yoga for healing and self-empowerment, Meditation, Mudra's and Mantra's, TRX Yoga fusion, Aerial Yoga.
Our Yoga teacher certification program is registered with the Canadian Yoga Alliance at both the 200 and 500 hour level and meets or exceeds the standards of the Yoga Alliance USA.
About Your Instructor: Julia Shields is the director and owner of Free Spirit Yoga and Pilates and is a registered 1000 hour + gold level Yoga Teacher and Yoga Teacher Trainer with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Free Spirit Yoga and Pilates is a registered Yoga Teacher Training school (CYA-RYS 500). CYA-RYS 500's are recognized as providing high standards of training for yoga students across Canada and internationally. CYA-RYS 500 registered yoga schools promote the integrity of yoga teacher training in Canada and internationally.
Julia has been practicing an eclectic fusion of Yoga styles since the 1970’s and has embraced Yoga as a full time study and life devotion since the mid 1990’s. Her practice has been influenced by traditional and classical teachings as well as modern hybrid Yoga styles.

Julia is also a certified Pilate’s teacher, B.C.R.P.A fitness leader, weight training instructor, third age (senior) fitness instructor, personal trainer, Reiki practitioner, Thai massage level 1 & 2 and studied Qi Gong with Jeff Primack at Supreme Science.
200 hour level Yoga teacher training program content:
* 120 in studio contact hours of Asana Study, (Yoga poses & flows) Pranayama, (Yoga breathing) & Meditation techniques. These hours include both training in the techniques and the practice of them.
* 30 in studio contact hours of teaching methodology & alignment principles. How to cultivate and develop your own teaching style and effectively teach group and private sessions.
*10 in studio contact hours Special Populations.
* 20 in studio contact hours of Anatomy, Physiology, bodily systems, organs, energy bodies, kosha's, dosha's & chakras.
* 10 in studio contact hours of Philosophy, History, Ethics and living a Yogic Lifestyles.
*10 in studio practicum’s (each 1 - 1.25 hours)

Dates and times can be personalized to suit your schedules. You have the choice to finish our program in 4 months - 1 year.
Cost: $2900.00 (plus gst) Price includes 180 in studio training hours, 20 hours of guided home study or in studio home study, anunlimited class pass for the duration of the program, Yoga teacher training manual and 10 guided in studio practicums.
We also offer a offer a mentoring program to our graduates and graduates from other Yoga schools to give you opportunities to continue to learn and build upon your teaching skills or take a refresher for modules you feel you may need more information on.
