Namaste: thank you for finding your way to Free Spirit. I have lived and breathed Yoga for over 30 years. Yoga has been my sanctuary during challenging times throughout my life. Yoga has helped me heal from asthma, chronic headaches and a tight sore body from many years of over use and competititve athletics. Yoga did not come easy to me, it humbled me, it made me soul search and ask a lot of questions about the direction I was heading in and my life style. It was a love hate relationship as I struggled to open my tightly wound body and calm my restless, tense mind. Since my first Yoga experience I have never turned back as I began to feel the benefits immediately. I thank Yoga for giving me back my breath, for giving me a supple and happy healthy body and mind, for taking away my headaches and giving me clarity. I thank Yoga for giving me the freedom to be who I was meant to be, an empowered, compassionate woman with gratitude for the present moment and excitement for what the future will bring. Yoga restored my faith in myself and mankind.
It is my mission to share the joy and magic of yoga with anyone willing to explore their full potential, to find peace of mind and experience wholeness and happiness in body, mind and spirit. To be the best person that you can possibly be.

Allan is Julia's best friend, husband & business partner. Allan is a recently retired Surrey Firefighter and practices Yoga, TRX & Aerial Yoga to help stay in shape and to keep a focused, clear mind. Allan enjoys biking, hiking, fishing, rv'ing and travelling.
Allan works behind the scenes to keep our studio's well maintained and in excellent repair.

Linda started her yoga journey over 10 years ago when her high school teacher introduced her to Hatha Yoga as a part of physical activity. She quickly found the amazing physical and mental benefits that came along with the regular practice. Throughout the years she has practiced many different forms of yoga and has fallen in love with Classical Hatha Yoga.
In 2012 Linda completed her 200 hour level yoga teacher training. Shortly after she finished she began to practice and mentor with Julia Shields.
Feb 21, 2015 Linda completed trx suspension training and is a certified instructor.
Linda understands that instructing a class with love and compassion allows the students to feel safe and comfortable. Her instructions are clear, precise and easy to follow and she has a natural knack of connecting with the students, putting them at ease as she offers support and modifications.
Linda radiates a passion for life and it is reflected in her teaching style and her lifestyle. She is a true friend and is always willing and able to reach out and help others and volunteer her time and efforts throughout the community.

As a mother of 3 boys, a dog, 2 cats and a bearded dragon and working as a nurse, life can be hectic! Yoga provides a sanctuary for me so that I can stay centered and grounded.
I practiced yoga in my bedroom as a teenager and a few years back started practicing again. It was like going home. Yoga helps me on and off the mat, from connecting to the breath, brining awareness to the mind body connection, to healing old wounds and releasing negativity. I love that yoga is inclusive, and I find great joy in teaching all levels and all ages. I like to teach in an egoless, safe and peaceful environment and enjoy a gentle and approachable style of yoga.
I became a certified 200 hour level Classical Hatha, Hatha Flow, Kids Yoga, Yin inspired and Gentle yoga teacher Yoga teacher in August of 2017 and a certified Pilates mat level Teacher in September 2017. I was immersed in the kids after school yoga program for the Maple Ridge School district during my teacher training.
I am also a certified doula and I am preparing to take Reiki level 1 and 2 and Therapeutic Yoga Outreach training in the near future.
I love to hula and play the ukelele and spending time in nature.

I have practiced Yoga on and off since 1998. When I did not practice Yoga, I felt scattered and sometimes lost. Often, I didn't know what to do, but there was so much to do. I didn't want to do anything, yet I wanted to do it all. When I returned to a regular weekly practice of Yoga, I felt grounded and reconnected. My thoughts were more clear and the pieces of my life started to fall into the right slots.
In early 2018, I got serious and completed 200 hour level Yoga Teacher Training, Kids Yoga, Trauma informed Yoga and TRX Suspension Training. I am currently working towards 500 hour level Yoga Teacher Training and Pilates Mat level 1 certification with Free Spirit Yoga and Pilates. Also I am working towards a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Certification.
I thank Yoga for always being there when I needed it. Yoga taught me to look at life from different lenses. I am confident I can get through with whatever life decides to challenge me with.
I enjoy Yoga, weightlifting, listening to music and being outdoors anytime of the year with my t shirts, shorts and sandals!
I also enjoy learning - I'm working towards my Bachelors in Manufacturing and Certificate in Materials Management.

Viri is passionate about the art of movement and expresses her passion throughYoga and Latin Dance (Salsa, Danzon, Bachata). Viri discovered Yoga 8 years ago and was amazed at how the practice of yoga made her feel so happy and centered. After finishing her first Yoga class it all clicked and she knew her life would be forever changed and from that moment on and it was.
Viri initially approached Yoga as a way to improve her flexibility and find peace of mind and calmness and has since discovered it has helped her be more patient with herself and others. It has taught her to listen to and nurture her body and mind.
A regular yoga practice has made her more open and accepting to whatever life throws at her.
Viri is also TRX certified and Pilates Mat Level one certified.

I started practicing Yoga 15 years ago while living overseas and have since been lucky to work with many teachers spread out over 3 continents. After multiple international relocations with my husband and our two sons, I can truly say that my practice has helped me to stay grounded and has empowered me to embrace a new beginning each time. I love celebrating diversity, which plays an important role in Yoga and I am closely connected to people from all walks of life.
I believe that getting out of one's comfort zone and trying something new will help you to continue to grow. With that in mind I have lately discovered a new passion for Aerial Yoga. Aerial Yoga allows you to decompress your spine and stretch your muscles while building strength at the same time. I love the newly found freedom of movement and support in the Aerials, and nothing beats Savasana in the silks at the end of each class.
Inspired by Julia, I took my Yoga Teacher training at Free Spirit Yoga and Pilates and have recently completed the 200 hour level certification. I am now working on my 500 hour level certification with current emphasis on Aerials, Yin Yoga and Kids Yoga.

I come from a sports background with over 15 years experience in the fitness industry.
I came to Yoga to find balance. I had strength and stamina, but lacked flexibility.
As my journey has progressed I was surprised about not only the physical changes in my own body but how I started to feel on the inside (salm, clear grounded to name a few). I began to honour my body and mind and found my soul nourished.

Kim has completed 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training and has completed training and is now certified to teach Yoga for Curvy Bodies.
I first started a regular Yoga preactice 11 years ago in a gym setting and I will be honest, I was there purely for the workout. I immediately noticed the great physical benefits - increased muscle strength and flexibility and less back pain, which I had suffered from since having children. My body felt amazing! Then I began to notice all the other great benefits too: I felt more grounded, less stressed, calmer, happier and more balanced in all aspects of my life. I was hooked!
Soon after I became a fitness instructor, teaching group fitness classes (one of my biggest passions) and then was referred to Free Spirit Yoga for Yoga Teacher Training in 2017. I enthusiastically dove into and completed my 200 hour Yoga teacher training with honors.
Coming from a fitness background, I love creating classes that are fun and well balanced and approachable for all levels, all bodies. When I am not at the gym or on my Yoga mat I love to be outdoors running with my dog, camping, skiing and hiking with my husband and 2 amazing kids.
